About the TTSP
The Trinidad and Tobago Society of Planners (TTSP) was enacted by the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago in the year 2004. Today the TTSP has a membership of some thirty (30) odd members who are either full time professionals or students on the way to becoming professionals in the discipline of Urban Planning

The TTSP has accomplished much in its short existence, including items such as :

The TTSP has pushed the initiative for the registration and licensing of planners. The draft Bill has been discussed with the CARIFORUM/CARICOM representative who visited Trinidad and Tobago sometime ago. The Bill has been transmitted to Government via a Ministerial Committee on Construction and Oversight. This Committee will in turn transmit this and similar bills from other professions to the respective ministers. It is expected that this matter will subsequently be placed on the government’s legislative agenda

The TTSP, in conjunction with the Division of Town and Country Planning, convened a seminar in celebration of World Town Planning Day in which two major presentations were made. TTSP also participated in the CAP Americas meeting in Barbados and circulated a report of that meeting to its membership

TTSP presently has approximately thirty active members, plus student members. An internship initiative allows senior planners to engage a student for the long holidays, as well as to have students “shadow” a planner in the execution of specific tasks.
